CFL Milk Fund

1 in 9 mothers in Moçmbique will die as a result of pregnancy, leaving half of their infants to die before their first birthday. These babies are usually left in the care of immediate family, however, few can afford the infant formula necessary to keep the child alive.

Many caregivers attempt to sustain these babies with a starchy diet, void of proteins, which an infant cannot digest. Even if a child reaches age one, and can drink powdered cow's milk, few families can afford it.

As a result, the Care For Life Clinic sees a regular stream of malnourished babies brought through its doors. The immediate needs cannot be ignored: These infants need forumula, or they will die.

Care For Life invites you to participate in the "CFL Milk Fund." 100% of all donations will be used to buy milk formula and powdered milk, which will be distributed through the CFL Clinic and the Central Infant Orphanitorio in Beira, Moçmbique. Contributions will be used immediately for this express purpose.

Caregivers receiving formula from the Milk Fund are screened by CFL staff and participate in the CFL Food for Work program where possible. They are also invited to attend other CFL programs with the long-term goal of improving their health, education and economic opportunity.
