HELP Program Frequently Asked Questions
- Am I right for a Care For Life Volunteer Team?
Care For Life facilitates volunteer humanitarian trips in Mozambique. Our trips are not tourist vacations. Participants should be physically and mentally prepared to face frustration and disquieting circumstances while traveling, working and living in impoverished, primitive areas. Participants must expect the unexpected, be patient and keep a sense of humor. Untraditional means of transportation may be used. Be ready for physically demanding walks and excursion in significant heat. You may be in close proximity to and possibly working with locals who are physically ill or suffering from chronic sickness.
- What other expenses can I expect?
In adition to air fair and travel expenses other costs to expect include passports, visa, immunizations, malaria medication and personal spending money.
- Is everything tax-deductible?
Care For Life is a non-profit organization as described by section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Therefore, the costs of your trip are probably tax deducible. We suggest that you consult your personal tax advisor regarding your personal tax situation.
- How else can I get involved with Care For Life?
Being a member of the Volunteer Team is one of the best ways to become immersed in the rich cultural experience that humanitarian service can provide. Care For Life exists only through the help of donors and volunteers. A few US dollars make an enormous difference in most third-world countries. Organizing a fund-raiser and donating the money to Care For Life allows us to purchase needed supplies in-country and provide relief faster to children and families. Purchasing supplies in Mozambique also stimulates their economy.
